La Quinta - Art Under The Umbrellas

On Line Shop:  http://www.jewelrybynaomi.etsy.com
Facebook: jewelrybynaomi

Greetings from beautiful Culver City, CA,

As opposed to last week's rained-drenched, disastrous Wisteria Festival in Sierra Madre, this Saturday's art festival held in Old Town La Quinta was a rousing success.  Because of the customers, the show's promoters, and charming Old Town itself, Art Under the Umbrellas is one of my favorite shows.  The artists display their wares under colorful umbrellas on streets lined with palm trees and adobe Spanish style buildings that house an array of fashionable shops, an art studio, and terrific restaurants.

The cliental is composed mainly of snowbirds, many Canadians from British Columbia and other visitors from the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest.  The music is smooth and classy, and there is a wide range of talented artists selling glass, oil and water paintings, bronze sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, and jewelry, of course.  There is one more show in April; so if you are in the area, stop by.  You won't be disappointed. Review of Brea Spring Craft Boutique & Wistaria Festival

The city of Brea held its 13th annual Spring Craft Boutique at the Brea community center.  This show is truly a craft show with a country sort of feel, featuring around 270 vendors, selling clothes, stationary, children’s toys, knitting, holiday decorations, flower arrangements, purses, lotions, candles, woodworking, food, and, of course, jewelry…

This was my first time doing this show, and it appears that it has a good following.  Most of the crafters I talked to were old-timers at the show.  They did say it was very slow this year but they plan on coming back as it has been a good show for them – promising-.

Peek preview of my jewelry at Brea

Sierra Madre held its 2011 Wisteria Festival on Sunday March 20th.  The town is a quaint upscale neighborhood with tree-lined streets, majestic foothills and artsy stores.  This show has everything going for it except one thing, the weather – kind of major- Needless to say, it rained & poured.  Most artisans left, but me, I’m glutton for punishment; I stayed until I could not stay anymore.  In spite of the forecast few devoted show goers did come out to shop, however, it was very slow going.

Hillcrest Festival Of Fine Arts - Feb. 25th - 27th

This sweet little show took place in La Habra Heights at the Hillcrest Congregational Church.    The quality of art was exceptional and the artist and volunteers were very friendly and helpful.  The show is a must see as it is small enough to see all the art and there is a wonderful starving artists cafe with homemade food.  In addition, there is live music performances throughout the day, which I enjoyed very much.

Until next time-----
Naomi
